1. How She Booked the Car
The Victim's Plan:
The victim, a 29-year-old Chinese national, was traveling to Singapore to pursue postgraduate studies. She arranged a short stopover holiday in Bangkok first.
The Booking:
After landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport and checking into a nearby hotel, she arranged private transport over the telephone with an individual she believed to be a legitimate local tour guide/driver.
She had never met this person face-to-face.
The Pick-up:
A black Nissan Teana sedan arrived at her hotel to pick her up.
2. What Happened in the Vehicle & What They Did to Her
The Ambush:
Shortly after pulling away from the hotel, the driver stopped along the road to let three other Thai men enter the car.
The Assault & Restraint:
When the victim realized something was wrong and attempted to get out, the men overpowered her.
They covered her with a cloth, confiscated her mobile phone, struck her in the mouth and face with an elbow (leaving her with swollen lips and facial bruising), and bound her wrists tightly with plastic cable ties to keep her subdued.
The Route:
The suspects drove north on the highway for over 350 km, passing several provinces toward Mae Sot district in Tak province.
3. How She Managed to Run Away
The Checkpoint Commotion:
Around the early morning hours of August 23, the car entered Kamphaeng Phet province along Ratchadamnoen Road and approached a police checkpoint in front of the Chula traffic booth.
The Leap:
Spotting officers, the victim screamed and elbowed against the interior.
Sensing police presence, the driver floored the accelerator to break through the checkpoint.
Taking advantage of the sudden chaos, the victim forced the rear door open and leaped out of the moving car onto the road, despite her hands still being bound with cable ties.
Rescue:
She sustained abrasions and road injuries from the jump, but managed to scramble to a nearby beauty salon/shopfront near the traffic intersection, knocking frantically on the glass.
Local residents and police officers quickly came to her rescue and transported her to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital for medical treatment.
4. What Happened to the Kidnappers
Police Pursuit:
Officers pursued the fleeing Nissan Teana towards Lan Dok Mai subdistrict.
Vehicle Disabled:
Police fired at the vehicle's tires, blowing out a tire and forcing the car to stop.
All 4 Suspects Caught:
Two suspects—Somkiat (41) and the driver Kittiporn (24)—were cornered and arrested immediately in the adjacent woods.
The other two accomplices—Suchart (41) and Kittisak (22)—fled on foot but were tracked down and arrested the following evening (August 24) hiding at a local Buddhist temple in Lan Dok Mai.
5. What Was Their Motive?
Cross-Border Trafficking / Extortion:
Police investigators established that the gang planned to transport the victim to Mae Sot on the Thailand–Myanmar border.
From there, victims are routinely smuggled across into Myanmar scam-compound enclaves or held for high-value ransom from their families.
Financial Gain:
The driver confessed under interrogation that he was hired for 10,000 Thai Baht (~RM1,300 / ~SGD390) by Somkiat solely to transport the victim from Bangkok to the border area.
Thai Tourist Police and central investigators are expanding the probe to uncover the masterminds who initially contacted and lured the victim.

Here with my Sticky because she hasn’t been feeling well since yesterday. 🥺 This clinic should seriously consider investing in a long solid couch for patients and visitors. They have like, what? two small plastic chairs? *roll eyes* sticky and the other patient are seated while I am standing here like im being punished like 法罰 sia 😭 Then after some time the clinic staff suddenly took out TWO MORE CHAIRS. 😂😂 So apparently I didn’t have to suffer in 法罰 after all. YAY 😭 And because Sticky has not been feeling well since morning, i didn’t go ahead with it and and missed my cardiology 🫀 appointment at NUH today. Im pretty tired myself to be honest. Priorities first I guess. ♥️
